"Bwana Jim"

"Bwana Jim" is a lively individual filled with enthusiasm and an outrageous wit. He will bring to the CT Pet Show the craziest most educational wildlife show ever seen, in 3 shows daily. Everyone who sees his show will go home talking about "Bwana Jim" for a long time!
"Bwana Jim" is actually Jim Moulton who, with his wife and fellow handler, Linda Moulton, travels the world presenting their own unique wildlife show. They have appeared in such far flung places as Israel, where they participated in the introduction of alligators to Middle East, as well as across the US, Canada, and the Grand Canaries Islands off the coast of Africa.
Originally from St. Augustine, Florida, Bwana Jim began handling alligators, progressed to the panther, and finally expanded to armadillos, wallabies, exotic birds and many other species. He has a rare gift for handling animals and shares his knowledge in an incredibly funny and entertaining way that is more memorable than any classroom!
Jim has 25 years of experience as an animal handler, specializing in reptiles such as snakes, alligators and turtles. Jim has a vast knowledge of a wide variety of animals and their habitats. Visit Jim online at www.bwanajim.com for more info.

K9 Musical Freestyle

K9 Musical Freestyle is simply dancing with dogs to music. It is a fun sport for the owners and dogs, and the audience. It has also been referred to as the "Tail Waggin' Sport"! Based on basic obedience training, it adds other dimensions such as music, timing, costuming, routine development, showmanship.

Carrie Neri and her Miniature Australian Shepherd, Callaway, Laurel Rabschutz and her Newfoundland, Rollo and Laurie Sullivan and her Golden Retrievers, Timber and Bowie are members of the World Canine Freestyle Organization (WCFO, Inc.), a non-profit corporation, founded to globally promote the joys and fun of responsible pet ownership through musical canine freestyle dancing, both as a sport and an entertainment medium. They have performed at venues all over New England, including various fundraisers, pet expos, fairs, dog shows and nursing homes.  They have also been featured in several books, newspaper articles and television shows.  They have earned titles and placements in freestyle competitions.  They are very excited to perform at the CT Pet Expo this year.

Frisbee Dog Show

Introducing our newest event at the CT Pet Show, The DiscDogs A2Z K9 Frisbee Dog Show, an exciting exhibition of championship Frisbee dogs in action, featuring Ed Jakubowski and his talented dogs Dasher, Rocket and Comet.  They’ll fly through the air in a thrilling show of talent and agility in shows twice daily at the CT Pet Show!

Savannahs Cats

Savannahs are a new breed of domestic cat, the product of breeding the African Serval with the domestic house cat.  Savannahs are tall, rather large cats with beautiful tan coats and distinctive Serval spots, and can grow to be anywhere from 12lbs to 30lbs.  Athletic, curious and highly intelligent, Savannahs are often good with dogs and children, when properly socialized.  Have a look at one of these stunning felines at the TICA Cat Show! Find out more at www.tica.org.

Bassett Hound named Willow

The hero of the book, Shadow: The Curious Morgan Horse is a lovable Bassett Hound named Willow.  She is a smart, inquisitive dog who has a talent for following her nose.  This wonderful character is closely modeled after the real Willow, a six-year-old Basset Hound proudly owned by the author of the Morgan Horse series, Ellen Feld.  Willow is probably the only hyperactive Basset in the world as she loves to run and play, all at full speed.  Like the dog in the book, she is great at picking up a scent and following it wherever it might lead.  Willow also adores people, especially children.  She is convinced that humans were put on this planet to pet her and she’d love to meet you, give you a kiss, and sign your book.  Come visit Ellen and Willow in booth 205!

AKC Parade of Purebred Dogs

The South Windsor Kennel Club and area clubs proudly presents the AKC Parade of Purebred Dogs at the CT Pet Show.  Here’s your chance to “Meet the Breeds”, see championship dogs up close and personal, talk to reputable breeders and discover which breeds are best for you and your family’s lifestyle.  Only reputable AKC breeders offer healthy, first class dogs as pets, ensuring that each of their puppies is healthy and placed in just the right home.  Only reputable breeders will follow up with each placement to answer all your questions and help with any training issues.  All seven breed groups, representing over 155 AKC breeds will be on display over the two days of the Pet Show.  Check the listings above for the groups that interest you!  We are deeply grateful to Peggy Wampold and the members of the South Windsor Kennel Club and other area kennel clubs, for their steadfast and enthusiastic support of the CT Pet Show.

Rare Dog Show

Dogo Argentino
Bergamasco Shepherd dog

See live Dog Show Competition, with both Rare and AKC Dogs competing for championship points at the Connecticut Pet Show and the Rhode Island Pet Show.  Rare Dogs are dogs representing breeds from around the world, such as the Dogo Argentino, a big game hunting dog from Argentina and the Bergamasco Shepherd Dog, a herding dog originating in the Italian Alps.  There are hundreds of rare and ancient dog breeds, many of whom will be competing at Osborne/Jenks’ Pet Shows.  The Rarities Dog Club recently joined with the North America Kennel Club, making it possible for both Rare dogs and AKC dogs to compete for championships points in the same show rings.  For more info, click on the Rarities link

Mal Luber

Photo-realism, combined with the power of his painted or drawn images, distinguish the work of Mal Luber’s art. From the early photo-realistic figurative drawings of nudes, body builders and portraiture, to the more recent and powerful acrylic paintings or graphite and color pencil drawings depicting equine art, wildlife art, western art and pet portraiture, Luber’s work is done with a “camera’s eye” and a designer’s sense of color and composition.  Visit the artist Mal Luber in booth # 827 at the CT Pet Show.

CT Humane Society

In celebration of our 126th Anniversary, The Connecticut Humane Society is pleased to be a part of the 16th Annual Connecticut Pet Show, October 27th & 28th at the Connecticut Expo Center in Hartford.  We’ll have our Mobile Adoption Center full of furry friends looking for new loving homes.  The Connecticut Humane Society will present demos of our Shelter Dog Training Program, sponsored by PetSmart Charities.  The Shelter Dog Training Program helps train adoptable dogs so they can find homes faster!

Wiggles Dog Wigs

Wiggles Dog Wigs will be featured at the Eccentripets Fashion Show all weekend at the CT Pet Show.  Designed and manufactured by professional makeup and wig designer Ruth Regina, Wiggles Dog Wigs are designed specifically for canines, keeping their comfort the primary concern.  For more info visit them online at www.wigglesdogwigs.com
